Finally Facebook has started rolling out its "Page Post Targeting Enhanced" which will allow Page Admins to target their posts to specific segments of fans, ie, gender, age, likes, and other demographics so admins can tailor market messages to specific audiences.
For example: You could tell your younger page fans how "Amazeballs" your products are while telling adults how "outstanding" they are.
Previously, Facebook Page Admins could only target posts to fans of certain geographical locations and languages.
This new feature is only available for a select number of Pages today (1st Aug 2012) but it will roll out to all Pages over the next few weeks. This new tool will make Facebook Pages even more useful to marketers and convince them to pay for ads to buy additional fans. Essentially making their PPC spend last a lot longer.
The full set of demographics that can now be targeted include:
- Age
- Gender
- Interested In
- Relationship Status
- Education
- College Grad: College Name, Major
- In College: College Name, Major, Years
- In High School
- Workplace
- Plus the old options - Language, and Location: Country, State, City
Much like email marketing segmentation/targeting Page Post Targeting Enhanced will let Pages publish different content to different segments of fans, or word their marketing messages differently to maximise relevance. For example, Holden could target posts about their sporty car range to 20-year olds while pushing discounts on SUVs to 40-year olds.
That could translate into more traffic and awareness, and lead marketers to become even more dependent on Facebook. For marketers, this means you've got a brand new tool to add to your marketing strategy, you could publish a non-stop stream of posts all tailored to different audiences. You no longer have to wait until your last post falls off the news feed, you're only limited by your imagination!
